The Field Technician will be responsible for performing routine tasks as directed by the Construction Manager. As a second level with trainee experience work is checked by others in process and upon completion. The Construction Manager may assign the technician to a construction project to serve as a construction observer to make field measurements, documentation entries and read & interpret plans.

Requirements

  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to read a tape measure in both fractions and tenths
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Must always maintain professional conduct
  • Valid driver’s license required with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier
  • Advanced/Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to X% with occasional overnight stays

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM), or Engineering preferred
  • 1 years of experience minimum required, 2 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Intermediate to advanced field inspection, testing, and documentation
  • Perform independently or interdependently on site and laboratory testing of soils, concrete or hot mix asphalt
  • Attend training to achieve various certifications
  • Understand operations and identify potential problems
  • Operate company vehicles
  • Maintain equipment and vehicles
  • Observe safety and security procedures
