About The Position

AECOM is seeking an experienced Field Task Manager/Field Project Geologist to join our Environment business line. This position will support a variety of environmental investigation, remediation, demolition, and site restoration projects, providing technical guidance and on-site leadership. The successful candidate will contribute to both field and office activities, including environmental and geological data collection, site activity management, reporting and supporting regulatory compliance. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex environmental projects under CERCLA, RCRA, and State jurisdictions, with occasional travel required. Candidates must be local to the specified office location and have the ability to work on-site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or a related field, with 6+ years of relevant experience AND/OR an equivalency of education and experiences.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License and ability to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Successful candidate will pass a background check.

  • 10 Years of experience in industry
  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, and State remediation programs at complex sites.
  • Knowledge of vapor intrusion sampling methods and contaminant fate and transport evaluation.
  • OSHA 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations Training certification.
  • Familiarity with State and Federal environmental regulations.
  • Experience in developing UFP QAPP and other Federal project documents.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and safely operate a full-size pickup truck.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise reports and presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs.
  • Ability to travel up to 20–50% for business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Site Management & Field Supervision: Participate in project scheduling and planning of field mobilizations/demobilizations.
  • Drive strict adherence to work plans, specifications, and environmental/radiological controls.
  • Oversight of environmental sampling, remedial activities, radiological surveys (in coordination with project health physics staff) and decontamination activities.
  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact between subcontractors, project managers, safety staff, and client representatives for a group of projects.
  • Communicate daily progress, changes, and issues to AECOM project management and Clients, when needed.
  • Field Activities: Conduct soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air, and soil vapor sampling.
  • Oversight of AECOM subcontractors, including excavation and drilling companies.
  • Perform geological logging, interpretation, and oversight of monitoring well installations.
  • Oversight of union and non-union equipment operators, laborers, teamsters, drillers, and subcontractors on active project sites.
  • Oversee pump-and-treat system operations, vapor intrusion mitigation systems, and general groundwater sampling programs.
  • Office Activities: Collaborate with project managers and technical teams to plan, design, and implement remediation strategies.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to junior staff and task teams.
  • Prepare cost estimates for field-related activities and remediation projects.
  • Support development and execution of Field Sampling Plans, QAPPs, SSHPs, and project work plans.
  • Evaluate environmental data sets using modeling, statistical analysis, and visualization tools.
  • Opportunity to prepare investigation reports, work plans, and technical deliverables, including remedial investigations and Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments.
  • Opportunity to develop and refine Conceptual Site Models (CSMs) for complex sites.
  • Health & Safety Leadership: Support AECOM the on-site safety lead, enforcing AECOM safety policies and project-specific Health and Safety Plans.
  • Correct unsafe behaviors and conditions immediately and escalate issues to project management when needed, properly use Stop Work Authority, and maintain proper reporting procedures.
