Field Systems Manager

EDP Current OpeningsChicago, IL
1d$80,000 - $100,000

About The Position

Every delivery, invoice, and customer interaction depends on systems working correctly in the field. As Field Systems Manager, you’ll be the person who makes those systems reliable, usable, and trusted — especially during acquisitions, when getting it right quickly matters most. Your work directly enables service centers to operate smoothly, leaders to trust the data, and newly acquired teams to feel supported instead of disrupted. What Success Looks Like You’ll own how our operational systems actually get used — not just how they’re configured. In your first 90 days, success means field teams are using Cargas consistently, data issues are proactively identified instead of discovered after the fact, and at least one acquisition or system improvement project is clearly moving forward with minimal friction for operators.

Requirements

  • Hands‑on experience supporting or administering an ERP system in an operations, distribution, or field service environment
  • Experience leading or supporting system implementations or data migrations (acquisitions strongly preferred)
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally with operations, accounting, IT, and vendors
  • Strong working knowledge of operational data and how it impacts real‑world execution
  • Willingness to travel to service centers (approximately 25–35%)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Cargas ERP
  • Familiarity with fleet management or fuel card platforms (e.g., Fleetio, Comdata)
  • Basic accounting or financial systems knowledge
  • Advanced Excel or reporting skills
  • Experience building SOPs or training programs for non‑technical users
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Accounting, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary owner and subject‑matter expert for Cargas and integrated field systems (fleet, fuel cards, cameras, etc.)
  • Translate real operational needs into system configurations that improve accuracy and efficiency
  • Lead testing and validation for twice‑yearly ERP upgrades and system enhancements
  • Troubleshoot issues alongside vendors and internal teams, prioritizing problems that impact field operations
  • Lead ERP onboarding for newly acquired companies, from data mapping through go‑live
  • Coordinate migration and validation of customers, tanks, pricing, inventory, and vendor data
  • Partner closely with operations and accounting to ensure continuity during system cutovers
  • Create and deliver practical training (webinars, job aids, on‑site support) focused on real workflows, not theory
  • Travel to service centers to observe system usage and reinforce best practices
  • Maintain and improve SOPs and knowledge articles in Zendesk
  • Proactively monitor data integrity across systems and resolve discrepancies before they become operational issues
  • Use operational data to surface improvement opportunities in routing, pricing, forecasting, and inventory
  • Lead special projects tied to system optimization and operational scalability
