About The Position

We are seeking a full-time Field Surveyor / Field Engineer with 2+ years of professional surveying or construction layout experience to join our team. This position is critical to supporting our Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) department, primarily in the field. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in surveying principles, construction layout, and the use of total stations and related instruments. You will perform precise construction layouts, verify measurements, and ensure accuracy in all field data collection. Additional responsibilities include producing detailed reports such as 360° photography and thermal imaging, and collaborating with project teams to maintain quality and efficiency. This role offers opportunities for growth into advanced VDC and design responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in surveying or construction layout (electrical or general construction experience a plus).
  • Proficiency with surveying instruments (total stations, GPS systems) and related software.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings and layout processes.
  • Technologically savvy and eager to learn emerging tools and technologies.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between job sites.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and communication abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Trimble, or similar VDC tools.
  • Knowledge of electrical layouts and construction sequencing.
  • Familiarity with data management and digital reporting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Execute field surveying tasks, including construction layout, verification, and as-built documentation using total stations, GPS, and other surveying instruments.
  • Interpret and review drawings, providing recommendations and adjustments based on field conditions.
  • Manage and maintain accurate survey data, charts, plots, maps, and records.
  • Perform calculations and verify accuracy of field measurements for critical project components.
  • Conduct quality control checks of layouts and construction prepared by other trades.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards for personnel and equipment.
  • Operate company vehicles and transport specialty equipment between job sites.
  • Capture and report 360° jobsite progress photography and thermal imaging data for applicable projects.
  • Collaborate with VDC Engineers and project managers to ensure alignment of field data with design intent.
