About The Position

Provide basic/intermediary Field Services support at the AFRL Rocket Lab at Edwards AFB, CA. Field Service Tech personnel will install, maintain, and support a variety of hardware-based systems connected to onsite networks including audio & video (AV) distribution systems, public address systems, environmental monitoring equipment, communication rooms, and facility access systems. Requirements

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in hardware maintenance, deployment, and management.
  • Experience with installation, termination and testing of Category 6 cable.
  • Experience with installation, termination and testing of Single Mode cable.
  • Experience with installation, termination and testing of Multimode cable.
  • DoD Interim SECRET (or higher) security clearance.
  • Fiber Optic Association (FOA) Certified Premises Cabling Technician (CPCT) certification or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft Visio experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Test, deploy, maintain, and update all networked equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of network parts, hardware, and consumables required to maintain communication rooms.
  • Notify user(s) for any network equipment not repairable in the field.
  • Create and maintain communication room drawings, floor plan, and rack elevation drawings detailing physical location of all equipment and patch panels (i.e. copper and fiber) within rack.
  • Connect, transport, and install systems at assigned field locations for network connected systems and related devices.
  • Document all physical network equipment.
  • Repair, install, and maintain communication room systems when required IAW industry standards. These systems include cable trays, cable conduit, cable hooks/supports, raceways, telecommunication racks (free-standing and wall-mounted), and environmental monitoring equipment.
