Overview Graham Packaging seeks a qualified field service technician with expertise in installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing proprietary automated packaging machinery across its plant network. The role emphasizes minimizing operational downtime through advanced mechanical and electrical skills, PLC diagnostics, and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. This position requires practical problem-solving abilities and involves extensive travel.

Requirements

  • Extensive hands-on mechanical knowledge and ability to understand electromechanical systems, with advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Extensive knowledge with pneumatic systems (all types of valves, filters, regulators, vacuum generators)
  • Extensive knowledge of electromechanical systems
  • Working electrical knowledge (including Arc Flash), PLC diagnostics (Ladder, ST, FBD), ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Ability to read, understand electrical schematic/mechanical drawings, AutoCAD experience a plus.
  • Good fabrication skills.
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, MS Teams)
  • Valid driver’s license, clean record
  • Extensive travel.
  • Associate’s degree or technical certification preferred
  • 3-8 years’ experience in industrial maintenance or field service

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and servos a plus

Responsibilities

  • Set up new equipment, including leveling, and connecting electrical/mechanical components according to prints and manuals
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine servicing to keep machines running efficiently
  • Diagnosing issues with electro-mechanical/pneumatic systems and making timely repairs to reduce downtime
  • Teaching operators and maintenance staff how to properly use and maintain the machinery
  • Completing detailed service reports, expense reports, and documenting all work
  • Remote technical support, virtual support, phone support required
  • Work directly with Graham procedure trainers on the creation and updating of technical manuals
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • 80+ percent travel will be expected, Including international
