SUMMARY: We have an immediate FT opening out of our Albany Branch for a Field Service Technician serving our customers in Albany, Binghamton, Utica and Poughkeepsie. This position is responsible for working with customers and home owners to address issues with installed windows, and doors. This position requires daily driving to service calls at customer homes. The Service Tech is expected to maintain professional behavior and appearance at all times and may be asked to work more than 40 hours in a work week. Requirements

  • A clean drivers’ license.
  • Have experience working with consumers.
  • Outstanding customer service and telephone skills.
  • Proficient use of iPhone and iPad is preferred.
  • Minimum 2- years experience working with Door and Window Installation.
  • Possess solid product knowledge of doors and windows to assist customers effectively.
  • A carpentry background, including the installation and repair of windows and doors and the skills of an experienced craftsman are desired including measuring, caulking, and using power tools.
  • The ability to recognize, diagnose and solve manufacturing defects, common installation issues and adjustment problems with these types of products.
  • The ability to work from ladders and scaffolding, and/or in tight spaces.
  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 2-years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Employee must have clean, valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • A carpentry background, including the installation and repair of windows and doors and the skills of an experienced craftsman are desired including measuring, caulking, and using power tools.
  • Willingness to travel: 50% (Preferred)
  • Proficient use of iPhone and iPad is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Systematically repairs wood and vinyl windows and doors in a timely fashion.
  • Removes & replaces glass from window sash using proper safety procedures.
  • Removes silicone and stickers from glass as appropriate.
  • Cleans up jobsite when work is completed.
  • Schedules routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Drives safely and maintains a clean motor vehicle report.
  • Communicates with supervisor when there are issues on the job that require further attention.
  • Completes and turns in detailed paperwork neatly, accurately and on time.
  • Calls ahead to every stop including “not confirmed” stops.
  • Communicates with Service Coordinator to fill in time slots that cancel; also adjust time for additional stops.
  • Answers the phone in a professional & pleasant manner.
  • Use ladders and scaffolding system as needed following all safe practices.
  • Use power tools efficiently and safely using all necessary protective wear.
  • Takes pictures off all issues including product ID stickers and emails them to Service department as needed.
  • Trouble shoots and diagnoses issues with product manufacturing or installation and communicate effectively and professionally with Service supervisor and customer as needed.
  • Maintain parts inventory in the service van at all times.
  • Performs other duties, as required.
