About The Position

This Technician will have the knowledge required to test, diagnose, maintain, and repair packaging machinery. Work requires knowledge of various trades and would perform a wide variety of electrical and mechanical maintenance and service work on various types of packaging equipment. This technician will have had exposure to most Manufacturers Secondary packaging equipment. Requires PLC communications and program modification capabilities.

Requirements

  • Associates or higher degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical or Electrical field and/ or 5+ years relevant and recent experience working in Secondary Packaging Equipment
  • PLC Experience
  • The ability to lift and carry a toolbox that can weigh up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience in repair or packaging field products required - Firm understanding of Case Erectors, Stretch, and Shrink film equipment.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to lead a team and or work & think well independently.
  • Complete and pass all factory certification courses as the Field Service Training Program dictates.
  • Excellent written and oral skills required for service call reporting.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Salesforce CRM
  • Must maintain up-to-date driver's License, registration, insurance, and good driving record.
  • Must be able to drive a forklift.
  • Must be able to use a smartphone and any related applications required for the job or timekeeping.
  • Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to lift and carry up to 50lbs. Frequently kneel, stand, and bend.
  • Pre-Employment Screening: Ability to successfully pass job-related pre-employment screenings to include a criminal background check and drug test.
  • Driving: Driving on a regular basis on behalf of the company is an essential function of this role. A valid driver's license and save driving history is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong service time management skills preferred.
  • Basic PLC skills - can write simple logic, interface with equipment and can make simple program changes. Has successfully attended formal PLC training.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, Identify, and Troubleshooting Industrial Packaging Equipment
  • Conduct installation, maintenance, and repair work and run/lead Installation Crews.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints
  • Face-to-Face Customer Service - Maintaining open and informative communication with customers to ensure diagnosis and status of repair updates are given to establish customer trust and confidence.
  • Professionally build customer relationships through solution-oriented communication and service, both on-site and phone support.
  • Identify and participate in sales opportunities such as Maintenance plans, retrofits, spare parts kits, or replacement equipment to customers as warranted, and work with the sales team to identify sales opportunities.
  • Provide service reports, service and parts quotes, tech stock inventory, and expense reports to the service manager on all activities and complete them promptly.
  • Properly document, label, and return all defective parts resulting from the repair.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures always
  • Work as a member of the local and national teams to provide efficient service to all accounts.
  • Supervise and train junior maintenance staff
  • Perform film audits and be able to identify film issues and resolutions.
  • Read electrical and mechanical schematics and other documentation to prepare for assigned service calls, installations, and customer training.
  • Supply and maintain your own tools and test equipment with the appropriate calibration ensuring all tools and car stock parts are kept safe and secure.
  • Other duties as assigned.
