About The Position

This position is responsible for performing duties involving utility service connections, minor repairs of metering equipment and field investigations, and training personnel.

Requirements

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED Certificate; AND
One year of experience in a job involving reading utility meters;
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above; AND
Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.
Knowledge of the functions, services, procedures and regulations of the unit or department to which assigned.
Skill in meter reading.
Skill in the use of basic hand tools.
Ability to follow oral and written instruction.
Ability to follow established procedures.
Ability to work effectively with others.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to read and understand job related material.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
Ability to use tables to compute fees and interest.

Responsibilities

Establishes new services and disconnects existing services by installing and removing water meters or turning valves.
In-field delinquent account collections activities including severance disconnects.
Performs field investigations of public complaints, violations of ordinances and of billing information.
Repairs minor leaks in water meters and connections; and repairs or replaces meter boxes.
Maintains records of duties performed, vehicle usage and maintenance.
Maintains and updates maps, charts and graphs.
Performs meter reading duties.
Performs other related duties as required.
