The Field Service Representative I is responsible for using licensed material and providing personal supervision for radioactive tracer services (proppant tracers) during well site operations. This role ensures compliance with NRC and/or Agreement States regulations and license conditions, acting as the Radiation Safety Officer at work sites. The incumbent works independently 80% of the time, assessing well site operations and communicating effectively with clients to ensure tracer services are performed safely and optimally.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Willingness to be on-call 24/7 and respond to calls within 60 minutes.
  • Willingness to travel and work on weekends.
  • Ability to obtain residence within a 60-minute drive to the local district office within 90 days of employment.
  • Ability to successfully complete six (6) weeks of classroom training and certification programs.
  • Ability to complete up to three months of on-the-job training under supervision.
  • Ability to demonstrate competence in the use of proppant and chemical tracers and survey instruments through a field evaluation.
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of basic radiation principles by successfully completing written examinations for Radiation Certification for well logging.
  • Ability to successfully complete the Tracer Operations Manual orientation and demonstrate the ability to perform all essential job duties without supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree with some college coursework in a field of science, technology or engineering.
  • Minimum one year of previous oil and gas service experience.
  • Some experience with Access.
  • An aptitude for learning new software systems.
  • Certifications in Radiation, Well Logging or Subsurface Tracer Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate job objectives, design, and possible operation changes with the client, including reviewing safety and flow-back procedures, confirming proppant and chemical tracer objectives, reviewing job design, and communicating job changes.
  • Gather and evaluate information on well specifications, number of fracture stimulation stages and depths, perforation(s) depths, casing, tubing specifications, and completion type.
  • Strategize rig-up scenarios with the client and recommend optimal design to maximize tracer outcomes based on data analysis.
  • Analyze mud reports and determine the appropriate amount of tracer to use for the operation.
  • Communicate with client to determine if additions to the drilling mud system are anticipated or have been made to determine impact to job design and materials required.
  • Monitor real-time well site operations and adjust tracer job design depending on status and stage of the operation, exercising discretion and independent judgment.
  • Survey the well site upon completion of tracer operations to ensure no radioactive material residue remains.
  • Provide customers with technical product support relating specifically to proppant and chemical tracer services.
  • Determine the appropriate mix of proppant and chemical tracers required for tracer completion and monitor injection into the “frac” line.
  • Utilize the STMU (Spectral Tracer Monitoring Unit) for jobs with proppant tracers to measure tracer material going downhole.
  • Communicate status of tracer operations to the client, including screen-outs, pump stops, and job completion.
  • Accurately complete all required reports at the conclusion of the job, such as job site survey, job site summary of operation, inventory of materials used, and field receipt.
  • Conduct a post-job review with the client and obtain a post-job treatment report from the frac company.
  • Discuss and promote future work and scheduling of next service with the client.
  • Promote and educate the client on Core Laboratories services that may address client needs.
  • Review marketing materials with the client as appropriate for potential future work.
  • Train clients and flow-back crew on proper sampling procedures (water, oil, gas and/or sand samples), as well as documentation procedures.
  • Train engineers and oil field gauger/pumper personnel on sampling schedules and specialized sampling equipment and procedures, safety, and quality controls.
  • Train mud engineers on sample collection procedures, calculation of sample depth, and proper documentation.
  • Train well site personnel on proper use of radiation survey meters and survey techniques.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, responsibility, and authority in the enforcement of appropriate radiation protection rules, standards, and practices on behalf of the licensee.
  • Function as the Radiation Safety Officer at the well site.
  • Take charge of the well site and implement procedures in ProTechnics O&E Manual in the event of an emergency.
  • Conduct safety meetings for all personnel on location prior to beginning on-site operations.
  • Establish and oversee ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) radiation control, operating, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Evaluate emergency situations at the well site (including blowouts, uncontrolled flow-back, fire), take control, and direct all third-party personnel in appropriate response.
  • Assess, judge, make decisions, and supervise decontamination activities for various operations and/or emergency scenarios.
  • Effectively communicate with regulatory inspectors and/or auditors of state and/or federal Departments of Health, Nuclear Regulatory agencies.
  • Evaluate and identify safety hazards and has the authority to cease all operations when necessary to avoid or prevent serious injury or death.
  • Be on-call 24/7 and respond to calls within 60 minutes.
  • Travel and work on weekends.
  • Safely handle and transport all assigned radioactive material and equipment.
  • Maintain the company vehicle, including keeping the interior and exterior clean and regular mechanical maintenance.
  • Deliver products and services to customers as needed.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and minimize accidents in the workplace and on well sites.
  • Obtain residence within a 60-minute drive to the local district office within 90 days of the first date of employment.
  • Successfully complete six (6) weeks of classroom training and certification programs, including basic knowledge of radiation principles and regulations.
  • Complete up to three months of on-the-job training under the supervision of senior Field Service Representatives or district operations management personnel.
  • Demonstrate competence in the use of proppant and chemical tracers and survey instruments through a field evaluation.
  • Demonstrate understanding of basic radiation principles by successfully completing written examinations given in the classroom-training course to obtain Radiation Certification for well logging.
  • Successfully complete the Tracer Operations Manual orientation of standard operating procedures and demonstrate the ability to perform all essential job duties and responsibilities without supervision.
