Provide overall management for implementation of medium to large size E, F & I projects, with medium/high complexity, within a customer network. Scope of Responsibilities: Manage customer implementation projects to meet Ciena and customer cost, schedule, and quality targets. Ensure project margins, revenue recognition, deliverables, and service levels are achieved as committed. Support pre-sales as needed by providing PM expertise for proposals and RFP responses. Interface with Ciena Program Management, Customer PMs, Operations, Field Services, Sales, Service Delivery, and Finance teams to ensure project and financial goals are met. Primary Duties: Own all E, F & I project financials, schedules, scope, and quality. Validate the Project Sales Order and Statement of Work (SOW) are aligned; build and manage detailed project plans from project start to finish. Provide SOW packages to internal teams and partners to support resource planning and RFQs. Coordinate closely with Engineering, Deployment Coordinators, partners, and customers to execute project tasks and milestones. Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related activities. Maintain the project schedule, track deviations, and ensure timely corrective actions. Communicate project status, risks, and resolutions to stakeholders and management. Facilitate cross-functional communication with internal groups and external suppliers/customers. Lead or support process improvement initiatives related to project management. May manage multiple projects within the CGSI customer base.

Requirements

  • Technical or Bachelor’s degree in related field from a college or university.
  • 8+ years technical project management experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PPT, Excel).
  • Min. DoD SECRET clearance.
  • Ability to flex work schedule to the demands of the project (e.g. support after-hours project calls for overseas projects).
  • Ability to travel to customer location for key project-related meetings.
  • Strong customer & mission focus; understands the "bigger picture".
  • Sharp critical-thinking; excels at root-cause analysis & complex problem-solving.
  • Solid judgement; makes timely decisions amid competing priorities.
  • Proven leader; coaches/mentors junior staff.
