About The Position

We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician / Mechanic to join our Distribution Business in Kearny, NJ. In this role, you will make an impact by completing repair activities on generators or components, engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner, performing maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools, maintaining detailed records of service, adhering to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies, undergoing ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products, and maintaining your own tools.

Requirements

  • Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities
  • High Voltage / Low Voltage experience
  • Advanced experience with electrical repair and maintenance
  • Proficient Diesel Engine experience
  • Advanced troubleshooting and repairs of generators, transfer switches, and auxiliary components
  • Setup, troubleshoot and repair basic paralleling generator systems
  • Understanding switchgear schematics
  • Ability to train Entry/Intermediate Technicians/Mechanics
  • Med-card
  • DMV driving report
  • DOT Physical
  • DMV Report
  • Join the Union
  • Must be 21 years old
  • Current valid license
  • 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
  • Pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
  • 3 years driving experience
  • Subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
  • Current relevant electrical certification
  • Locally valid driving permit
  • Licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations
  • Basic level field service work experience
  • Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products
  • Customer service experience

  • Apprentice Certified Power Generation/ Electrical Technician
