Key Role: Support the Spaceport Systems team at Vandenberg SFB by operating and maintaining the Integrated Processing Facility (IPF) for processing space hardware in preparation for launch. Perform preventative maintenance, repairs and installs for critical IPF systems including: facility control systems, power generation, fire detection, UPS, HVAC, and other electrical and mechanical systems. Perform operations, maintenance (preventative and emergency) repairs, and maintenance engineering that encompasses the critical facilities systems utilized during spacecraft processing Troubleshoot equipment utilizing mechanical drawings and electronic schematics Perform detailed and accurate record keeping, complete documentation including, logbooks, work orders, and purchase requisitions Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of critical facility systems under simulated operating conditions, record result and provide data/quality records at project reviews. Collect and provide analysis of technical data Collaborate with other departments as necessary to meet customer requirements Provide customer interface for technical issues during payload processing Handle materials, including operating a fork truck, and participate in critical spare part control Occasionally participate in on-call rotation and work extended hours when required Make recommendations for operational improvement for facility systems Follow Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in mechanical engineering or related technical field and 3+ years of experience in complex mechanical maintenance and repair, or H.S. diploma and 5+ years of experience in complex mechanical maintenance and repair
  • Read, understand, and work from Standard Operating Procedures, electrical drawings, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Experience working around space vehicle flight hardware, and clean room operations and protocols
  • Ability to work independently within a cross-functional team
  • Able to supervise contractors and vendors performing work in the facility as needed
  • Capable of walking and moving around job site
  • Active TS/SCI clearance (or ability to obtain)

Responsibilities
