As a Field Service Engineer for Agilent, you will work at a variety of labs, so having an appetite for continuously learning about new instruments, software, and consumables is key. Applying your communication skills, creativity, and can-do attitude is essential. The ability to help solve customer problems and a commitment to delivering the highest levels of customer service are how you will build customer success. You will be responsible for supporting our customers with on-site installation, implementation, maintenance, and repair of Agilent Liquid Chromatography /Molecular Spectroscopy systems. Our varied product lines include hardware, software, networking products, and operating systems. Installs and optimizes hardware/software/network products and configurations at customer sites. Diagnoses and resolves product performance problems. Performs maintenance and repairs. Ensures customer satisfaction by advising customers on preventive maintenance and configurations that may affect product performance. Proactively responds to potential equipment issues to prevent unplanned interruption of customers' business. Deliver fully integrated solutions, which may include peripherals, communications, operating systems, and applications software. May train other field engineers and customers in the solutions. May qualify leads. Candidate must be willing and able to travel overnight. Must consent to participate and meet Agilent-approved customer/vendor credentialing requirements necessary to gain access to customer sites. Requirements may include, but are not limited to, proof of identification, proof of certification to perform the work required, customer health and safety requirements, etc. Territory Coverage The ideal candidate will reside in Illinois and the Chicago area. The position requires an active driver's license. Company Vehicle Program: Either vehicle mileage reimbursement or a company car is eligible for this territory. Territory: IL, covering WI, MI, and IN as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree within the science field – e.g., chemistry, analytical chemistrybiochemistry, biotechnology, or similar, or relevant work experience.
  • 1-2+ years of experience as a field service representative or experience as an end user of the spectroscopy and liquid chromatography instrumentation.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Verbal and written communication is clear, respectful, and timely.
  • This is a field position, and the candidate is expected to travel and visit customers with the ability to travel up to 30% within the territory.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Candidate must be willing and able to travel overnight.
  • Must consent to participate and meet Agilent-approved customer/vendor credentialing requirements necessary to gain access to customer sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Spectroscopy and/or Liquid Chromatography background with instruments such as a Cary UV-Vis, an Agilent 3500 UV-Vis, an FTIR, and 1260/1290 LC is highly preferred.
  • Experience with the Agilent solutions is desired but not essential.

  • The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $34.00 - $53.13/hr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits.
