About The Position

The Field Service Controls Technician will be responsible for installing, servicing, and supporting Rapak filling equipment at customer locations across the U.S. and internationally. This role requires strong electrical and PLC programming skills along with the ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues in the field. The technician will work independently while collaborating closely with engineering and customer teams to ensure equipment performance and customer satisfaction. Frequent travel and timely completion of service documentation are essential to success in this position.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), including ladder logic.
  • Strong electrical skills, including the ability to wire equipment according to electrical schematics.
  • Technical proficiency with Allen Bradley industrial controls and familiarity with RSLogix 500/5000.
  • Solid troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills for diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and controls-related issues.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on equipment servicing experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
  • Effective time-management skills and ability to prioritize tasks in the field.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • This role is required to be on-site 5 days at the Woodridge, IL location.
  • Associate degree or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering principles, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of field service experience, with prior experience holding a Field Service Technician–level role or similar.
  • Valid driver’s license and US Passport.

Responsibilities

  • Install and provide training on Rapak filling equipment at customer sites.
  • Perform service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Rapak filling equipment across customer locations.
  • Complete and submit all required service reports, documentation, and paperwork in a timely and professional manner.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time, including some international travel as required.
  • Collaborate closely with the engineering team to support equipment performance and customer needs.
