Position Overview: Dutch Bros is looking for an individual to join our field safety team for the summer Emerging Talent Program. The Field Safety Specialist is responsible for inspecting & identifying hazards, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, designing and implementing risk-mitigation programs, investigating accidents, and educating employees on safe practices and equipment use to prevent injuries and ensure a healthy work environment. This role will interpret standards and work to document compliance using their discretion and experience to hold shop leaders accountable in setting standards. The Field Safety Specialist will work with Dutch Bros’ operators and local regulatory agencies to adapt procedures to set safety standards. This position will conduct investigations of safety incidents & proactively identify opportunities to improve safety systems. For the duration of the program (June 1st - July 31st) housing will be provided, however reliable transportation is needed to and from the program. Additionally, the program is rooted in professional development, full-time employment conversion is not guaranteed.

Requirements

  • 3 years of Full-Time shop experience with at least 1 of those years in a leadership position (Shop Manager or above) or comparable shop operational experience, required.

  • Must be able to work in a busy, crowded, and loud office with frequent distractions and interruptions
  • Must be able to collaborate in-person with occasional impromptu in-person meetings
  • Adaptability to typical office conditions, which may include exposure to air conditioning, heating, artificial lighting, and varying noise levels
  • Ability to sit, stand, reach, twist, stretch, and work at a desk for long stretches.
  • Must be able to occasionally move or lift office items up to 25 pounds
  • Hearing must be sufficient or correctable to ensure clear understanding of spoken information, including participating in virtual meetings and phone calls. Use of hearing aids or other assistive devices is acceptable if needed.
  • Ability to read and write in English is essential for processing documents, drafting reports, and following up on necessary actions. Proficiency in written communication is required to handle job-related tasks effectively.
  • Vision must be adequate or correctable to perform essential job duties, such as reading documents on a computer screen and using other visual tools. Use of corrective lenses or other measures to meet visual requirements is expected if needed.
  • Must be proficient in operating a computer and other office productivity tools such as printers, scanners, and collaboration software.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders via email, video conferencing, and other in office communication tools.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine their root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide training to employees on safety procedures, the proper use of safety equipment, and best practices to promote a culture of safety.
  • Work with operations to adapt safety procedures and standards
  • Conduct Safety assessments of shops as needed
  • Develop & deliver safety and awareness training
  • Identify safety and security gaps and provide corrective action suggestions
  • Provide solutions to Operations to implement best practice for safety & security issues and practices when applicable
  • Collaborate with other departments, most commonly in Field Services and Facilities, to give both quantitative and anecdotal feedback
  • Conduct regular inspections of workplaces, equipment, and procedures to identify potential safety and security hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
