About The Position

Mobile Reefer Technician will support our Fleet Division. This role is ideal for a self-motivated technician who enjoys working in the field, diagnosing complex issues, and servicing transport refrigeration equipment at customer locations.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years experience as reefer technician.
  • Minimum age 21 years old.
  • Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Previous experience servicing transport refrigeration units (reefer units) is required.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
  • Ability to work independently in a mobile service environment.
  • Comfortable using diagnostic tools, scanners, and electronic testing equipment.
  • Experience with soldering, welding, and refrigeration equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to lift, bend, stand, and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair truck and trailer refrigeration units, including Thermo King and related equipment.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics using scanners, electronic test equipment, and onboard computer systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, and component replacements on transport refrigeration units and APUs.
  • Review and complete shop orders accurately while maintaining service documentation.
  • Identify and repair system failures, including leak detection, component removal/replacement, and Freon system testing.
  • Assemble, install, and replace refrigeration components using soldering, welding, and refrigeration tools.
  • Install new refrigeration units on trucks, trailers, and vans.
  • Travel regularly to customer sites to perform mobile service calls, operating company vehicles safely and within road and weather conditions.
  • Follow all company safety policies, DOT requirements, and auto safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support service operations.
