About The Position

Performing as a technical advisor and/or group leader, a Field Operations Specialist I provides field operations control, coordination, and direction to current and future customer base, contributes to meeting program objectives in a variety of unique and conventional methods, and performs complex assignments in austere remote areas with widely varying duties. Employee will be responsible to perform the following functions/duties: Operate commercial trucks (with or without trailers) in compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards. Safely transport equipment and materials to and from job sites in a timely manner. Load and unload equipment onto trailers, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement. Inspect cargo and apply appropriate tie-downs, straps, and other securement devices; remove and store equipment after delivery. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance. Identify and report mechanical issues; assist with basic vehicle maintenance and servicing. Prepare and maintain trucks for U-Drive-It fleet use, including cleaning, fueling, and routine upkeep. Maintain accurate logs, delivery records, and required documentation. Follow all traffic laws, safety procedures, and company policies at all times. Perform other job-related duties, as required.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with the government organization, structure, and supply (mandatory)
  • Intimate familiarity with the area in which operations are conducted
  • Extensive knowledge of special equipment locations and capabilities, areas of population, Military Operating Areas (MOA), Explosive Ordnance Disposal, and Range operations
  • Knowledge of the Sandia Corporation, rules for the use of restricted air and ground space, Range utilization periods of foreign national military agencies, and Red/Green Flag operations
  • Knowledge of local area procedures including incident/accident procedures, unauthorized personnel entry contingency plans, and other local operating caveats required to conduct an effective and viable test/training program
  • Extensive knowledge of what constitutes a hazardous mission and the coordination steps to ensure safety
  • Ability to conduct a multitude of functions under stressful conditions in a constantly changing environment
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • A bachelor's degree or completion of equivalent academic, military, or vocational technical training and four (4) years of directly related experience in a similar operational environment are required for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid CDL Class A license with a minimum of 3 years of verifiable flatbed driving experience and a clean driving record.
  • Thorough knowledge of and compliance with all DOT, state, and local traffic laws, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Proven ability to safely operate commercial vehicles within legal weight and load size limits.
  • Experience serving as a Vehicle Control Officer (VCO), including responsibilities in vehicle accountability, safety inspections, and maintenance coordination.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle inspection procedures and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Required certifications: Pilot/Escort Vehicle Operator, Standard Forklift, and MEWPs (Mobile Elevating Work Platforms), or ability to obtain within a specified time frame.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety-focused mindset, and ability to work independently.
