The Field Mechanic (Heavy Equipment) is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing Heavy Civil Construction Equipment. Essential Job Functions Diagnoses problems and performs mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy civil construction equipment (including, but not limited to, bulldozers, scrapers, backhoes, front end loaders, yard trucks, forklifts, and company vehicles). Inspects and documents condition of equipment for items needing repair or service. Replaces or repairs defective parts using hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment. Rebuilds or fabricates parts. Lubricates moving parts and operates repaired equipment to verify conformance to specifications. Performs tasks per preventative maintenance checklist. Drives pick-up or service truck. Safety conscious and responds to inquiries promptly; follows through to ensure the situation is taken care of correctly. Other related duties as required or assigned.
