About The Position

We are seeking a Field Audit Specialist, this is a critical role in supporting operations by conducting field audits to ensure inventory integrity, regulatory compliance, and optimizing consigned field inventory. This position requires a high degree of autonomy, analytical expertise, and discretion in decision-making. Reporting to the Supervisor of Sales Support, the specialist will travel to various sites (e.g., hospitals, surgical centers, and distributor locations) to perform audits, analyze findings, provide strategic recommendations and support in the removal of expired and excess inventory. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with an understanding of medical device inventory management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in auditing, inventory management, or roles within the medical device industry or a regulated environment.
  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion on matters of significance.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with proficiency in preparing reports and presentations and face-to-face professional interactions with hospital personnel, sales reps, distributor partners and other key stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (up to 80% of the time) to field locations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) and audit/inventory software tools.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule field audits, including prioritizing sites based on risk assessment, historical discrepancies, or business needs (rather than following a rigid script).
  • Travel to various sites (e.g., hospitals, surgical centers, and distributor locations) to perform physical inventory counts.
  • Analyze audit findings to identify root causes of inventory variances, compliance gaps, or process inefficiencies, and recommend corrective actions or process improvements to management.
  • Exercise discretion in resolving discrepancies during audits (e.g., determining if a variance is due to error or loss, and deciding on appropriate escalation or adjustments without routine supervisory approval).
  • Interpret and apply company policies, or quality system requirements to audit processes, ensuring alignment with business operations and risk management.
  • Lead or coordinate audit support volunteers such as account managers, distribution center personnel and participants from other areas of the company
  • Provide advisory support to distributors or management on inventory management best practices, compliance risks, or operational strategies based on audit data.
  • Prepare reports or presentations on audit results, financial impacts (e.g., lost implants), or compliance status for distributors and senior leadership, with recommendations that influence decisions.
  • Negotiate and resolve disputes with distributors on inventory accountability.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of audit activities and results to support internal reviews and external inspections.
