About The Position

Jensen Hughes is seeking experienced Field Inspectors with a strong background in water-based fire suppression systems and fire alarm systems to work at the TSMC facility in North Phoenix. The position requires technical depth, sound judgment, and the ability to interface effectively with clients. The Field Inspector is responsible for on-site inspection, verification, and documentation of fire protection system installations at a large-scale manufacturing facility under construction. This role ensures that all fire suppression and life safety systems are installed in accordance with approved drawings, applicable codes and standards, project specifications, and company quality requirements. The Field Inspector serves as a key liaison between field crews, project management, engineering, and the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in fire protection inspection, installation, or quality control within commercial or industrial construction environments.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA standards (e.g., NFPA 13, 14, 20, 24, 25).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, shop drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, inspection/reporting tools).
  • Ability to work full-time on an active construction site.

Nice To Haves

  • NICET certification (any level) in Fire Protection Engineering Technology.
  • Experience on large manufacturing, industrial, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Prior experience interacting with AHJs and third-party inspectors.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and milestone inspections of fire protection systems, including fire sprinklers, standpipes, fire pumps, underground fire mains, and related components.
  • Verify installations comply with approved shop drawings, NFPA standards, local codes, and project specifications.
  • Identify non-conforming work, document deficiencies, and track corrective actions through resolution.
  • Ensure proper materials, methods, and workmanship are used throughout installation.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records, daily reports, and photographic documentation.
  • Support preparation of inspection reports, deficiency lists, and closeout documentation.
  • Assist with test documentation, including hydrostatic tests, flushes, and acceptance testing.
  • Coordinate with installation crews, subcontractors, project managers, and engineers to resolve field issues.
  • Interface with AHJs, third-party inspectors, and client representatives during inspections and acceptance testing.
  • Communicate schedule impacts, quality concerns, and field observations clearly and professionally.
  • Enforce jobsite safety policies and ensure inspections are conducted in compliance with site safety requirements.
  • Identify unsafe conditions related to fire protection work and escalate as necessary.
  • Support company and site-specific quality and safety programs.
  • Assist with constructability reviews and field verification prior to inspections.
  • Participate in punch list development and system turnover activities.
  • Provide technical input to project teams based on field observations.
