Requirements

  • 10–15 years of progressively responsible experience in construction engineering or construction management.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with transportation infrastructure projects (grade separations, roadway, bridges, rail, or similar heavy civil work).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working with construction sequencing, means and methods, and contract documents.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience with construction documentation systems and standard CM tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Nice To Haves

  • Contractor experience on transportation related projects as a field engineer, superintendent or project manager.
  • Prior experience on public-sector projects in Southern California.
  • Familiarity with Caltrans-style specifications, local agency standards, and utility coordination.
  • Experience supporting change management and claims avoidance.
  • EIT or PE (California) a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • You’ll provide senior-level field engineering support during active construction, including earthwork, structures, roadway, utilities, and grade separation elements.
  • You’ll review construction means and methods for compliance with plans, specifications, safety requirements, and constructability.
  • You’ll support resolution of field issues, conflicts, and unforeseen conditions with a solution-oriented mindset and identify potential downstream impacts early and proactively elevate issues to the RE/CM team.
  • You’ll support coordination between design intent, construction execution, and contract requirements and understand how daily field activities impact critical path schedule, cost, risk, traffic handling, and public impacts.
  • You’ll assist with review of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and field directives and maintain accurate field records, daily reports, and photo documentation.
  • You’ll support quantity tracking, progress verification, and pay estimate documentation.
  • You’ll coordinate with inspectors, surveyors, utility owners, rail agencies (if applicable), and third-party stakeholders.
  • You’ll communicate clearly and professionally with contractor supervision and client representatives and participate in construction meetings and provide informed technical input.
  • You’ll support QA/QC processes and verification of work in place.
  • You’ll reinforce safety expectations and compliance with project safety plans and assist with compliance related to environmental commitments, traffic control, and public agency requirements.
