About The Position

Webber, a part of Ferrovial Construction and founded in 1963, is a leading construction company specializing in heavy civil, waterworks, energy, and infrastructure management. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Webber has offices and projects across the United States and Canada, offering various project models including design bid build, design build, alternative delivery, and public-private partnerships. Webber also boasts an in-house engineering services department, leveraging global expertise and resources from Ferrovial. This internship is a 12-week program designed to provide hands-on support across various roles within Webber. It focuses on key areas such as Safety, Survey/Estimating, Project Supervision, and Field Engineering. Internships are available in multiple locations within Webber's Heavy Civil, Waterworks, Infrastructure Management, and Energy divisions, offering an opportunity to gain practical experience in a fast-growing company.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Science/Management, or related 4-year degree program
  • Ability to communicate in English via verbal and written communications
  • Moderate to high level of computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers
  • Full understanding of Construction Math concepts
  • Ability to perform moderate to high level of physical activity in field-based construction environment

Responsibilities

  • Gain understanding of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) ad Hazard Safety Observations (HSO)
  • Know and apply necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PEE) for jobsite activities
  • Observe and prevent safety incidents
  • Conduct jobsite audits
  • Learn how to interpret plans and set layouts
  • Understand how to survey for quantities
  • Gain knowledge in conversions and accurate surveying practice
  • Assess man-hours time and materials needed for production
  • Communicate and delegate work plans to field crews
