The Field Engineering Intern – Heavy Civil provides hands-on support to Webber’s Heavy Civil project teams, assisting Field Engineers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents with day-to-day field operations. This internship offers real-world exposure to construction management, field engineering, and jobsite operations on large-scale heavy civil infrastructure projects, providing practical experience in a fast-paced construction environment.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a civil engineering, construction management, construction science, or related bachelor’s degree program.
  • Interest in heavy civil construction and field‑based project work.
  • Ability to communicate professionally in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Moderate computer skills using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activity in an active jobsite environment.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of construction math concepts preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support Field Engineers and other Project personnel with daily field operations, production tracking, and work planning.
  • Assist with quantity tracking, material take‑offs, and verification of installed work.
  • Help interpret construction plans, specifications, and layouts under the guidance of project staff.
  • Participate in surveying activities and learn basic layout and measurement techniques.
  • Observe and support jobsite safety practices, including Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and safety observations.
  • Assist with documentation such as daily reports, field logs, and project records.
  • Learn to assess labor, equipment, and material usage for production activities.
  • Communicate effectively with field crews and project team members to support work execution.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and other project tools to support field engineering tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support Heavy Civil project teams.
