Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Webber supports various project models and has an in-house engineering services department. The Field Engineering Intern – Waterworks provides hands-on support to Webber’s Waterworks project teams by assisting Field Engineers, Project Engineers, and Superintendents with day-to-day field operations. This internship offers exposure to water and wastewater construction projects, including treatment plants, pump stations, and utility infrastructure, while gaining practical experience in construction management, field engineering, and jobsite operations.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a civil engineering, environmental engineering, construction management, construction science, or related bachelor’s degree program.
  • Interest in water and wastewater construction and field-based project work.
  • Ability to communicate professionally in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Moderate computer skills using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to perform moderate physical activity in an active jobsite environment.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of construction math concepts preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support Field Engineers and other Project personnel with daily field operations, production tracking, and work planning.
  • Assist with quantity tracking, material take-offs, and verification of installed work on water and wastewater systems.
  • Help interpret construction plans, specifications, and layouts related to water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Participate in basic surveying activities and learn layout, elevations, and measurement techniques.
  • Observe and support jobsite safety practices, including Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), safety observations, and compliance activities.
  • Assist with documentation such as daily reports, field logs, as-builts, and project records.
  • Learn to track labor, equipment, and material usage supporting production activities.
  • Communicate effectively with field crews, project engineers, and inspectors to support work execution.
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and project documentation tools to support field engineering tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support Waterworks project teams.
