WSP is currently initiating a search for a Field Control Specialist for our Overland Park, KS office. The following locations will also be considered: Topeka, KS, Kansas City, MO and St. Louis, MO . Your Impact Perform control system technical services on utility/boiler plant control systems as well as a variety of other tasks as assigned by utility clients, hospitals, manufacturing plants and universities Assist with business development activities such as maintaining client contacts, proposals, estimates, and identifying new opportunities Be involved in the scheduling of work assignments Experience with AVEVA System Platform / Wonderware InTouch. Experience with Rockwell Allen-Bradley PLCs, software and HMIs. Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS’s) such as Emerson, Delta-V or ABB. Effective working in applications such as MS Excel, MS Word and Bluebeam. Provide work summaries, reports, calibration and test data, software files, and other documentation in a timely manner that meets the department standards. Be responsible for knowing the scope, schedule, and budget before beginning any work assignment. Complete all required training activities. Share technical expertise with co-workers Follow all safety rules applicable to your work assignment Document and report near misses, incidents, or safety observations as part of a proactive safety culture. Interact with clients, vendors, contractors, and other WSP employees in a professional manner Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant post-education experience in field services, commissioning, infrastructure, or construction fieldwork.
  • Experience and knowledge of instrument installation / calibration
  • Experience and knowledge of water-tube boiler controls
  • Experience on package boiler / utility boiler combustion - including testing and tuning.
  • Strong understanding of field safety procedures, including hazard identification and mitigation
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, have own personal transportation with the ability to provide additional personal liability insurance coverage
  • 90% travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
  • Complete and pass all required training activities including OSHA 30-hour course
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • This role is subject to a client-mandated Federal drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
