About The Position

The Field Assistant for Sierra Forestry Consulting’s Sonoma County division plays a key support role in daily field operations. This position works closely with the Regional Operations Manager and Field Supervisor to assist with crew coordination, orientations and trainings, fleet tracking, headcount management, reporting, and overall operational organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable balancing field support with administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred
  • 1–3 years of administrative or office experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at times
  • Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, climb and crawl
  • Must be able to perform work in a variety of weather conditions

Nice To Haves

  • associate degree preferred
  • Experience in forestry, utility, construction, or vegetation management industries is a plus
  • Familiarity with GIS systems or mapping software
  • Experience working with field crews or operations teams

Responsibilities

  • Support the Regional Operations Manager and Field Supervisor with daily operational and administrative tasks.
  • Assist with coordinating communication between field staff and leadership.
  • Help facilitate new hire orientations, including paperwork completion, safety briefings, and equipment readiness checks.
  • Support ongoing trainings by tracking attendance, preparing materials, and assisting with field demonstrations as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate headcount records and workforce tracking documentation.
  • Compile and organize operational reports, including production data, safety documentation, and staffing updates.
  • Help address local fleet needs by tracking vehicle assignments, reporting maintenance issues, and coordinating basic service appointments.
  • Maintain organized records of equipment inventory, PPE distribution, and field supplies.
  • Serve as a field-level point of contact for basic operational questions and escalate concerns to supervisors as appropriate.
  • Conduct field support tasks as needed, including site visits, documentation collection, and quality assurance checks.
  • Promote and uphold safety standards, company policies, and professional conduct in all field activities.
