About The Position

Reporting to the West Technical Services Manager, you’ll partner with Regional Sales and our Clinical Genomics Specialists to provide high-quality technical expertise, consultancy, and representation for Oxford Nanopore solutions—driving successful adoption across academic, clinical, and biopharma accounts in Los Angeles and Greater Metropolita Area. What you’ll do Advise pre-sale: lead technical consultations, presentations, seminars, and in-field events at key accounts and conferences. Enable post-sale success: guide project planning, experimental design, sample preparation workflows, training (device and software), and downstream data analysis. Champion clinical use cases: support customers developing or validating clinical genomics assays; align on success criteria and timelines. Own the technical relationship: manage technical success plans for strategic accounts; remove adoption blockers and expand usage. Collaborate to win: work closely with Sales and Clinical Genomics Specialists on territory plans and evaluations; provide backup support to adjacent regions. Document & learn: track enquiries and outcomes in CRM; capture competitive intel and market trends; communicate insights internally. What you’ll bring Required PhD in Life Sciences (or equivalent commercial experience in a customer-facing/support role). Strong hands-on lab background in genetics, molecular biology, and cell biology; theoretical knowledge of experimental design and sample preparation (e.g., DNA/RNA isolation, fragmentation, library workflows). Experience developing, validating, or supporting clinical genomics applications; familiarity with CLIA, and awareness of ASCP/AMT certifications. Confident presenter and trainer with excellent troubleshooting, writing, and documentation skills. Comfortable in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment; systematic problem solver who communicates clearly and professionally with experienced researchers. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Salesforce (or similar CRM). Nice to have Proficiency with data visualization/analysis and programming (R, Python—NumPy, pandas). Familiarity with Linux for data handling/analysis workflows. Fluency in additional languages. Location & travel Field-based in San Diego, supporting customers across Southern California. Preference for candidates located in San Diego Up to 70% travel (including overnights). Valid driver’s license and ability to travel independently required. The salary for this role is between $97,000 and $122,000 USD . The salary offered will reflect the skills and experience of the candidate. Certain roles within ONT are eligible for annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based on individual performance. Requirements
