Position Overview The Fiber Splicer will be responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic cables and systems. This role requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to travel regularly to different project sites. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and being part of a team that delivers high-quality network infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in fiber splicing (single-mode and/or multi-mode) — or willingness to learn; training available for motivated candidates.
  • Working knowledge of fiber optic color codes and cable construction.
  • Ability to use fusion splicers, OTDRs, and light meters effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel for extended periods.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willing to train the right candidate with mechanical or electrical aptitude and strong work ethic.

Nice To Haves

  • Fiber Optic Technician (FOA/ETA) certification or equivalent.
  • Experience with aerial, underground, and inside plant installations.
  • CDL or experience operating bucket trucks and trailers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform fiber optic splicing, terminations, and testing for both aerial and underground installations.
  • Use fusion splicers, OTDRs, and other test equipment to verify fiber integrity and performance.
  • Read, understand, and implement fiber network plans, schematics, and splicing diagrams.
  • Troubleshoot and repair damaged fiber cables and connections as needed.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and test results.
  • Follow all safety protocols and company procedures at all times.
  • Travel frequently to job sites across multiple states; overnight stays may be required.
