The Fiber Optics Splicer will perform complex splicing operations for telecommunication installations. The position will require travel throughout New York State and will work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3-5 years related splicing experience.
  • Ability to fuse or mechanically splice SM or MM fiber optic cables to include termination of various types of fiber optic connectors (ST, SC & LC).
  • Experience with computers to update drawing and Fiber Optics Splicing documentation.
  • Experience and knowledge in fiber acceptance testing.
  • Possess a valid NYS Driver’s License and have a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs. frequently.

Nice To Haves

  • Installation and testing of pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types of sizes and cables experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and quickly changing work environment with strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Will be responsible for splicing fiber and the installation of Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant Fiber Optic/Copper Networks.
  • Work aloft up to 50ft in bucket truck or on a ladder, climb utility poles and work in manholes.
  • Installation and dressing of fiber optic cables (vertical/horizontal).
  • View and print traces.
