About The Position

Wyyerd Fiber is seeking a skilled Fiber Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in the planning, evaluation, and execution of fiber network projects. This position requires a strong technical background in fiber-to-home/fiber-to-the-business network design and construction, as well as the ability to collaborate with external partners and internal teams to optimize project costs and efficiency. About This Role The Fiber Engineer is a vital part of the Wyyerd team as it supports the OSP Engineering & Construction teams that are responsible for working with outside contractors to enable the rapid deployment of its broadband network.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • College degree and/or equivalent 3 to 5 yrs experience in similar field
  • Positive attitude, willingness and eagerness to learn new things
  • Ability to understand/learn the fiber network construction process
  • Working computer knowledge
  • Understanding and interpreting plat maps
  • Telecommunications wiring color-code competency
  • Must have clean driving record
  • Ability to pass drug test
  • Understanding of ISP/OSP services
  • Ability to work with others on all responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Analyze high-level engineering designs to support project evaluation and selection.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering firms to ensure alignment with project goals, regulatory requirements, and cost constraints.
  • Assess and recommend alternative construction methods to reduce build costs while maintaining quality and compliance.
  • In certain cases, develop detailed construction designs based on cost analysis, feasibility studies, and project requirements.
  • Provide cost estimates and forecasts for fiber deployment projects.
  • Ensure designs adhere to industry standards, permitting regulations, and company guidelines.
  • Support the construction team with technical guidance, troubleshooting, and design modifications as needed.
  • Stay updated on emerging fiber technologies and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct in-person site walks and pre-installation surveys to assess serviceability.
  • Identify access points, equipment room locations, and pathways for fiber installation.
  • Work with property owners and building engineers to coordinate access and installation logistics.
