About The Position

This position is for a FI$Cal Senior Project Manager, offered on a 2-year base term with an option to extend for an additional year. The role requires extensive experience in applying project management principles, methods, techniques, and tools, particularly within large and complex IT projects. A significant part of the role involves leading State of California agencies through the entire lifecycle of FI$Cal system implementation, including onboarding, go-live, and post-implementation activities. The Senior PM will be responsible for managing or supporting system transitions related to statewide financial Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and the FI$Cal system. Key aspects of the role include facilitating stakeholder alignment, managing organizational change, conducting meetings, and providing updates. The position also involves initiating and executing comprehensive project management plans, which encompass creating and monitoring schedules, work breakdown structures, and risk/issue tracking with resolution support. Furthermore, the Senior PM will coordinate support for Standard Operating Procedures and knowledge transfer, and handle strategic planning, consulting, workload, and budget management. Experience with application integration, upgrade testing oversight, and accounting system-related integration and reporting is also crucial.

Requirements

Bachelor’s level degree from a recognized college or university
Valid Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI)
Seven (7) or more years of broad, extensive, and increasingly responsible experience applying PM principles, methods, techniques, and tools
At least four (4) years of that experience must have been as a senior PM of one or more large or complex IT projects, comprised of broad, extensive, and increasingly responsible experience applying PM principles, methods, techniques, and tools
At least three (3) years of that experience must have been as a senior PM of one or more large complex IT projects, which include PM experience for a project worth at least $5M
Six (6) years of experience leading a State of California agency through FI$Cal system onboarding, go-live, and post-implementation activities
Resource must possess experience managing or support system transitions related to statewide financial Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and/or the FI$Cal system
Five (5) years of Project management experience in CA state government
Four (4) years of facilitating alignment with multiple stakeholders, managing change in complex organizations, and meeting facilitation, which includes providing stakeholder updates
Four (4) years of initiating and executing a project management plan which includes: creating and monitoring a project schedule, work breakdown structure, and risk/issue tracking with resolution support
Four (4) years of coordinating support for Standard Operating Procedures and/or related internal knowledge transfer efforts
Five (5) years of strategic planning, consulting, workload, and budget management
Five (5) years of application integration, application upgrade testing oversight, and accounting system related integration and reporting

Responsibilities
