About The Position

The primary role of the FERC Generation Compliance Analyst will be to support the implementation of the FERC Generation Compliance Program and to effectively administer the program in concert with the various business units and departments at LS Power under the supervision of the Director, FERC Generation Compliance.

Requirements

  • Have a Bachelor Degree and/or Master’s Degree
  • Have a minimum 3+ years in operational or market compliance, ideally within a commodity trading environment
  • Have a solid understanding of the physical and financial energy commodity markets and products, including hands-on experience with financial and commodity trading compliance frameworks
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills
  • Have the proven ability to respond quickly and effectively to time-sensitive trading and compliance demands
  • Are detail oriented and proficient in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PP); and Power BI and scripting tools and programming languages
  • Are able to multitask and effectively manage time to meet deadlines
  • Are able to define and set priorities, follow through, and respond to changes in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Support the administration and management of commodity trading compliance training program, including design and delivery of onboarding training requirements, tracking completions and attestations in the LMS, and maintaining training evidence for internal and regulatory reviews.
  • Assist in the management and completion of FERC and CFTC regulatory filings
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments in collection and gathering of data
  • Support the Sr. Analyst, FERC Generation Compliance in the review and submission of filings

Responsibilities

  • Support the energy management team by ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures and external regulatory requirements across North American gas and power markets (physical and financial).
  • Conduct risk-based trade surveillance and monitor commodity trading activities to identify, assess, and mitigate regulatory risks associated with trading physical and financial energy commodities.
  • Monitor and evaluate daily trading positions for compliance with federal and exchange limits; Assist in the implementation of automated systems for position limit monitoring and trade surveillance.
  • Assist in the maintenance and distribution of compliance policies and procedures as it relates to commodity trading activities and monitor adherence to these policies.
  • Assist with internal investigations and audits and respond to compliance queries.
  • Assist in the development and administration of asset registration process, focusing on issuing and auditing digital certificates to access organized markets for internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain and organize compliance documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to record retention requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant rules and regulations from ISOs/RTOs, trading exchanges, CFTC and FERC.
  • Conduct counterparty onboarding process, including KYC requests.
