About The Position

The Developmental Cognitive Neuroimaging Laboratory at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, led by Dr. Elizabeth Sowell, investigates brain-behavior relationships in children and adolescents. Our goal is to identify genetic and environmental influences-both past and present-on brain development from childhood through adulthood. We use a multidisciplinary approach that includes behavioral assessments, surveys, biomarkers, and neuroimaging techniques. This postdoctoral position focuses on understanding environmental influences on typical neurodevelopment, with particular emphasis on prenatal and postnatal neurotoxic exposures and socioeconomic risk/resilience factors. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing analyses using dentine biomarkers to reconstruct heavy metal exposure histories from shed deciduous teeth.
