Purpose Statement/Position Summary: We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow to investigate novel CAR T-cell therapies and other immunotherapies in preclinical models of childhood neuroblastoma. This position is in the laboratory of Dr. Shahab Asgharzadeh within the Cancer and Blood Disease Institute (CBDI) at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, in affiliation with the Keck School of Medicine and the University of Southern California. The Research Post Doc Fellow, is in training to help develop the academic knowledge and research fundamentals, teaching expertise and administrative experience necessary to be an exemplary researcher. Perform laboratory work and conduct research activities independently or in collaboration with the Principal Investigator. Publish results in scientific manuscripts and research publications. Participate in seminars, meetings, trainings and other educational sessions. Dr. Asgharzadeh's lab focuses on understanding immunotherapies and their interaction with the tumor microenvironment using mouse models of neuroblastoma. Candidates should have a strong background in immunology and molecular biology. The postdoctoral fellow will benefit from collaboration with a large network of investigators studying the tumor microenvironment at CBDI, The Saban Research Institute at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, and the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center at USC.
