SummaryPlays a key role in the daily operation of the feedlot by supporting livestock care, facility upkeep, and overall yard efficiency. This position is hands‑on, fast‑paced, and essential to maintaining a safe, clean, and productive environment for both cattle and crew.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situation.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to stand; walk; sit; use hands/fingers to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Ability to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • Ability to work in pens with animals present.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clean, sanitary facilities by cleaning pens, scales, feed bunks, water tanks, drains, and troughs to support animal health and welfare.
  • Perform routine repairs and general maintenance across the feedlot, helping keep equipment and infrastructure in reliable working condition.
  • Operate the water truck to ensure proper livestock hydration and assist with dust control throughout the yard.
  • Support daily operations by completing additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor, contributing to a smooth and efficient workflow.
