About The Position

A Feed Mill Receiving Operations position involves the safe unloading and quality inspection of raw ingredients, such as corn and soy, from trucks and railcars, directing them to appropriate bins, and documenting incoming materials. Key duties include operating equipment like forklifts, maintaining clean work areas, performing daily inventory and logs, and ensuring all products are stored correctly while following safety protocols. The role requires physical stamina for tasks like lifting and climbing, basic computer and mechanical knowledge, and good communication skills to coordinate with drivers and other team members. A qualified individual must possess a strong work ethic, be customer-focused, hardworking and have the desire to work as a team member.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy items (lift up to 50lbs), sweeping, and shoveling.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, & climb frequently.
  • Ability to work in dusty conditions and all weather conditions with the required PPE to do so.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous feed mill or grain experience preferred.
  • Agriculture/farm background preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all feed manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Safely unload bulk and bagged ingredients from trucks and railcars.
  • Inspect incoming ingredients for quality and condition, ensuring they match the receiving documents.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, and rail movers to transfer ingredients into appropriate storage bins.
  • Operate and monitor feed mill processes and production systems.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including checking receiving pits and tunnels daily.
  • Coordinate with drivers and other team members to ensure smooth and safe operations.
  • Ensure products are directed to the proper bins or bays or tanks or storage areas.
  • Perform necessary sequencing, recording and documenting of all feed manufactured during shift.
  • Maintain accurate production and FDA records, entering data into an Excel spreadsheet.
  • Mix and prepare livestock feeds efficiently and in a manner that ensures accuracy and high quality.
  • Assist management with production scheduling, inventory planning, and control for both ingredients and finished products.
  • Determine proper routing and distribution for manufactured feeds to appropriate holding bins.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and repair as needed.
  • Load and unload trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Observe and enforce all company policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate with managers, co-workers and customers.
  • Maintain a professional image and provide superior customer service.
  • Perform general work around the facility and other duties as assigned.
