About The Position

The position of Feed Mill Plant Manager has immediate responsibility for the property, plant, and equipment of a single, assigned Feed Mill location. This role ensures efficient production of high-quality feed products, while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The Feed Mill Plant Manager will lead their team, oversee production processes, manage budgets and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Science, Business or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of prior job experience, previous management or feed delivery operations or related areas preferred.
  • Strong mechanical understanding of task-specific equipment, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Lead and motivate operations, dispatch, and trucking teams while promoting a collaborative work environment.
  • Communicate clearly both written and verbally and maintain a strong customer focus while managing a fast-paced environment.
  • Ensure full compliance with company policies, FDA/FSMA regulations, and all relevant local, state, and federal laws.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistency and quality standards are met in grinding, batching, bin management, and load out.
  • Collaborate with Feed Mill Maintenance Manager to develop and enhance standards for maintenance programs on all major pieces of equipment.
  • Assist Feed Mill Maintenance Manager in management of subcontractors to ensure quality work and completion of projects according to bid and specifications.
  • Oversight of the weekly maintenance plan and communications to the maintenance staff
  • Develop staff with an emphasis on cross-training and team flexibility.
  • Diagnose feed processing problems and make any necessary equipment adjustments.
  • Maintain close and effective working relationships with accounting, technical services, vendors, contract producers, and government agencies.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and advocate for a safe work environment.
  • Provide direction, coaching, and supervision to employees while holding staff accountable for production and financial outcomes.
  • Contribute to recruitment efforts and the execution of strategic staffing plans. Support employee growth through development training programs and performance feedback to maximize human capital.
