About The Position

The Kitchen Work Study Student will assist in the daily operations of the Volt Center's kitchen. This position is ideal for a motivated, dependable, and hardworking student who takes pride in maintaining a clean, organized, and professional work environment. Interest in a hospitality or culinary career is preferred but not required - anyone with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn is encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining cleanliness of all kitchen facilities, including equipment, utensils, and linens
  • Recording temperatures of equipment and food products to ensure safety and compliance
  • Receiving grocery orders, checking for freshness and accuracy of products
  • Managing and maintaining inventory across pantry, refrigerators, freezers, and reach-in coolers
  • Recording and reporting irregularities such as safety concerns, or damaged/missing equipment
  • Assisting with general food preparation, including basic cooking practices and proper knife handling
  • Providing support and service for catering and special events (e.g., NC Symphony) at the Volt Center
