About The Position

To provide small group instruction for students who are at-risk in reading and math.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a recognized, accredited college or university
  • Texas certification standards required for assignment as set by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC)
  • Excellent T-TESS or alternative evaluation scores
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong content knowledge of the grade level curriculum to work in
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships among colleagues
  • Ability to multi-task complex administrative activities
  • Three (3) years' traditional public classroom teaching experience or equivalent

  • ESL Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an added tier of intervention for students who are struggling in their classes.
  • Work closely with district staff to train campus teachers on intervention strategies to use with struggling students and to provide follow-up at the campus level.
  • Provide a climate of high expectations for staff and students.
  • Evaluate current school intervention efforts in light of what the research establishes as effective practices for struggling students and identifies which practices need to be added and/or revised.
  • Attend district-level meetings held throughout the school year to coordinate efforts across the district.
  • Attend campus-level meetings as specified by the campus principal.
  • Model appropriate intervention strategies and assist teachers in providing differentiated instruction in the classroom.
  • Monitor student performance on local and state assessments and assist in the development and refinement of tools, processes, and procedures to enhance student performance.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with teachers to analyze campus data and to plan for focused interventions for students who are struggling.
  • Collect and submit data on student progress, monthly, or as requested by administrator(s).
  • Collect data on instructional practices, strategies, and skills to provide effective feedback and coaching.
  • Provide interventions for students who are not successful on district assessments.
  • Attend staff development designed to enhance delivery of services.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
  • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
