Requirements

  • Must be currently employed with the Florida Department of Corrections.
  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of professional probation and/or community corrections experience, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
  • Must be a Certified Probation Officer.
  • Knowledge of policies and practices involved in personnel/human resource functions.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution. This may include strategic planning, resource allocation, manpower modeling, leadership techniques, and production methods.
  • Knowledge of professional verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of instructional methods and training techniques.
  • Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance.
  • Skills in motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
  • Skills in weighing the relative costs and benefits of a potential action.
  • Skills in adjusting actions in relation to others' actions and identifying the nature of problems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the supervisory and administrative functions of a circuit as delegated by the Circuit Administrator.
  • Assist with the administration and oversight of the operations of Community Corrections activities and supervises community release programs in a Judicial Circuit to ensure that supervision and investigative services are provided to offenders in accordance with Florida Statutes, Department Rules and Procedures.
  • Administer direct supervision to staff responsible for ensuring that offenders placed on or released to community supervision receive the level of supervision and services mandated by Florida Statutes.
  • Maintain HIPAA documentation and serve as the Privacy Coordinator for the circuit handling requests related to public health information or confidential records.
  • Ensure staff are provided training regarding department rules and procedures. Conduct reviews of staff compliance with department rules and procedures.
  • Review approved public service work site agreements to ensure they meet procedural requirements and provide a current listing of approved work sites to staff and the chief judge of the circuit.
  • Review and respond to recommendations for early terminations, reduced reporting, and placement on administrative probation or regular probation from community control.
  • Monitor pretrial intervention program within circuit.
