About The Position

The Farm Safety & Resources Specialist develops a culture of ‘safety first’ within the dairy farm environment by creating, implementing and leading initiatives that enhance the existing farm safety program. Additionally, the Specialist will own initiatives designed to strengthen employee engagement, as well as other special projects and analyses benefiting dairy operations. This role partners with site management and safety committees across multiple locations and closely collaborates with the Farm Resource Development (FRD) Team, Human Resources and senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, an agriculture-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of related work experience, preferably in a dairy or agricultural setting.
  • Bilingual/Spanish skills required
  • Proven project management and time management skills, with the ability to progress multiple workstreams simultaneously and meet specific timelines and deliverables.
  • Self-sufficiency and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills-- both written and verbal.
  • Ability to conduct effective safety training and presentations throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team-building skills, with ability to collaborate across departments and locations, as well as interface with third-party advisors and regulators.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in educational content development using a variety of digital learning and presentation platforms (e.g. Canva).
  • Available for up to 70% regularly scheduled travel (including overnight) to remote facilities via automobile or airline.
  • Must be able to stand and walk outdoors for long periods of time in dairy environments and be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to sit and focus for extended periods of time in front of a computer screen or while utilizing various office equipment.
  • Must be able to lift equipment and materials up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Gain a thorough understanding of existing operational activities, safety considerations, protocols, reporting processes, safety committee activities and training materials.
  • Drive awareness, education and engagement around safety, sustainability and other initiatives, as needed—including through supervisor coaching and hosting on-site training seminars.
  • Partner directly with the Media Production Specialist and subject matter experts across the organization to produce training materials supporting all aspects of farm operations and culture, including safety, animal care, environmental stewardship, and other topics, as needed.
  • Regularly observe supervisor-led trainings and safety committee processes. Make recommendations to improve the effectiveness of communication and enhance overall safety program facilitation.
  • Regularly audit and evaluate key operational areas, activities and processes to identify safety risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with management to design program improvements. Lead the change management process across all site locations.
  • Regularly aggregate, update and maintain all safety-related applications, data, key performance indicators, scorecards and reports utilized by all levels of the organization.
  • Perform deep dive analyses of safety outcomes and effectiveness of management approach. Make actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop, implement, and update safety policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure OSHA and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with farm teams and industry partners to develop job certification programs that integrate classroom instruction and on-the-job training with industry best practices.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external resources—including suppliers, training providers, and educators—to support, strengthen, and continuously improve farm safety programs.
  • Contribute to other operations-related special projects, analyses, and administrative tasks.
