Overview The FAP Engineer is responsible for identifying and solving problems related to the paint manufacturing process, ensuring high-quality standards, and optimizing production efficiency. This role involves analyzing process data, troubleshooting issues, designing process improvements, and collaborating with the Quality and production teams to maintain consistent quality and meet product specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 3-6 years of experience in a process engineering role in a manufacturing environment, particularly in the paint or coatings industry. 10+ years of experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on process optimization and quality control.
  • Excellent data analysis skills, with proficiency in statistical tools and process control systems.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to adapt to fast-paced, changing production environments.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required, approximately 10% of the time.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Passport required
  • Minimum of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required for all roles at Scout Motors, Inc., preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with paint processes and coating technology is a plus.
  • Knowledge of paint application systems and curing technologies, preferred.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and troubleshoot issues for process and manufacturing constraints.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions to resolve process deviations and optimize paint application techniques.
  • Collaborate with the quality team to ensure that quality standards are maintained throughout the production process.
  • Monitor key process variables and collect data related to paint application efficiency, consistency, and quality.
  • Analyze process data to identify trends, root causes of issues, and opportunities for process optimization.
  • Work with the quality control team to track the effectiveness of process improvements.
  • Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams to define specifications and ensure adherence to process standards.
  • Provide technical support to production teams to ensure smooth operations and troubleshooting of process-related challenges.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to address technical issues related to ensure that materials/process meet specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of process changes, experiments, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Prepare reports on process performance, improvements, and any corrective actions taken.
  • Ensure that all process documentation complies with company and regulatory standards.
  • Train production and quality teams on new process improvements, troubleshooting techniques, and best practices.
  • Provide process improvements to continuously improve overall production efficiency.
  • Develop and implement procedures to minimize plant waste
