About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of complex duties in Child Protective Investigations; including, but not limited to the completion of technical clerical paperwork associated with child abuse investigations from intake through case closure. Serves as assistant to the Child Protective Investigators. This involves varied assignments including data collection, evaluation of information, report development, tracking of assignments and other related duties with minimal instruction. Receives Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN) intakes through assignment and performs the preliminary workup for investigations. Researches records and documents to include, but not limited to: vital statistics, criminal history checks, CCIS checks, prior reports, person merge, diligent search, etc. Summarizes all records located and inputs information in FSFN case/investigation record. Reassigns case to primary investigator. Assists with transportation needs in Child Protective Investigations, including picking up medical or other records, transporting children to placements, court, Child Protection Team (CPT) appointments, various other interviews, exams, and medical appointments. Assists with various client interactions such as scheduling; serving petitions; administering drug tests; supervising children in the office; supervising parental visitations; etc. Assesses client needs in a timely maker as specified by operational procedure. Serves as backup to Records Technicians and Staff Assistant. Manages phone calls as office reception, professionally and courteously. Prepares various correspondence and/or documents such as placement consideration letter, shelter packets, IV-E packets, etc. Maintains placement database, researches placement options, and/or performs fingerprinting. Completes written referrals for identified services. Completes all records requests by obtaining copies of police reports, psychological evaluations, and other documents in accordance with operational policy. Maintains timely, accurate backups and updates of logs (e.g., vehicle logs; CAMS; etc.). Maintains a tracking system of records requests and rescreens to ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
