LSI announces a gratifying opportunity for a full-time Family Support Specialist in the Waterloo area for our Early Childhood Program serving Blackhawk County. Our Early Childhood Services provide critical care, guidance, and education to parents of young children across the state. Whether we're meeting with families through in-home weekly visits, connecting them to local resources in their community, or hosting support groups for parents to bond, this team makes a direct impact on the lives of the Iowans we are privileged to serve. You can join us on our mission to provide hope and healing. What You'll Do Want to make a difference in the life of children and families? Family Support Specialist(FSS) offer home visits to expectant parents and caregivers of small children, providing parenting education, support, and advocacy. Family Support Workers link parents to resources, promote optimal child health and development, and problem solve with parents. Family needs and abilities are evaluated on an ongoing basis. Family Support Specialists assist families in designing individualized support plans and empower families overtime to achieve their chosen goals. Our home visitation program is part of a nationwide initiative designed to empower families to become and remain healthy and strong. Position will be responsible for home visiting and coordinated intake within Blackhawk county.
Requirements
- Associates degree in health and human service-related field or education and 2 years of experience.
- Valid driver's license
- Auto insurance
- Good driving record
- Ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.
