The Women’s Housing and Economic Development Corporation (WHEDco) is a community development organization founded on the radically simple idea that all people deserve to live in healthy, vibrant communities. We build award-winning, sustainable, affordable homes – but our work is not over when our buildings are complete. WHEDco believes that to be successful, affordable housing must be anchored in strong communities of which residents can be proud. WHEDco’s mission is to create and bridge access to resources in the South Bronx that support thriving neighborhoods – from high-quality early education and after-school programs, to fresh, healthy food, cultural programming, and economic opportunity. See www.whedco.org for more information. About the C4-2 Project Child care is a vital support for parents and caregivers – it allows them to pursue employment, education, and stable housing while knowing their children are cared for in a developmentally appropriate setting. For families that have received child care assistance through New York City government, it is crucial to maintain their eligibility so there are no disruptions to their child(ren)’s care through the city’s recertification process. That’s why WHEDco is partnering with New York City government to support families with the recertification application so they can continue receiving child care assistance. With this 18-month project, WHEDco will conduct outreach to families with upcoming recertifications, help families complete the recertification application, and ensure continuity of care for thousands of families. Job Summary: The Family Support Specialist is responsible for working with families to successfully review and submit their recertification application. Family Support Specialists will engage families to offer support, hold appointments with families to help them successfully complete and submit their application, respond to family questions about the child care application process, and adhere to data entry protocols. The Family Support Specialist will review cases assigned by their Project Lead and provide flexible and ongoing support to families throughout the recertification process based on family needs.
