About The Position

It is the role of the Receptionist/Family Services Caseworker to greet visitors, answer phones, and provide administrative support. To make sure the office runs smoothly by scheduling meetings, handling mail, and keeping things organized. In addition to this, the Receptionist/Family Services Caseworker effectively manages a caseload of clients who seek social services for individuals and families. Provides social service assistance to eligible clients. The Receptionist/Family Services Caseworker will also assist with the UGI application process as part of assigned duties. Since the vast majority of constituents are Spanish speakers, it is of great value for the Receptionist/Family Services Caseworker to be able to read, write, and speak Spanish fluently.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in social work or similar discipline
  • Bilingual (Able to read, write and speak Spanish fluently).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 360 apps such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and others.
  • As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.
  • Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

  • Office duties include but is not limited to, answering phones, filing, writing inter-office communications, prepare mass mailings, help design event fliers; etc.
  • Assist clients in Customer Assistance Program, Operation Share, and other programs.
  • Ensure all UGI/CAP/Operation Share programs are effectively conducted, that all follow-up phone calls and applications are properly processed.
  • Assist with food bank duties.
  • Assist with emergency food and clothing dutiesAssist clients in Customer Assistance Program, Operation Share and other programs.
  • Assist with Christmas assistance and back to school backpack giveaway program
  • Make referrals to other social service agencies to help meet the needs of clients.
  • Make referrals to community base mental health and substance abuse treatment centers and The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Center.
  • Work with Corps Officers and Corps Pastoral Care Team to provide needed pastoral care for families and individuals that are receiving social services.
  • Perform general office duties such as answering phones, taking transferring messages, filling, data and statistics gathering etc.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
