About The Position

This position is organizationally under the Medical Director of the Kickapoo Health Center as operated by the Kickapoo Tribe of Oklahoma. Operational hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. unless otherwise required by the Medical Director. The purpose of this position is to perform those duties as may be commonly associated with an Oklahoma Licensed Physician's Assistant implementing care in an ambulatory care setting. Skills and knowledge base should be applicable to ages across the life span, including the care of adult, pediatric, geriatric, and obstetrical patients in the outpatient settings.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four (4) years working in a clinical setting.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience with direct supervision of staff (if required)
  • Successful completion of a Physician Assistant Program and be fully licensed in the State of Oklahoma as such with no restrictions.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant's is required

Nice To Haves

  • A master's Level preparation in Physician Assistant and/or a Healthcare Management related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health services to patients under the preview and under the direct supervision of the Medical Director.
  • Takes comprehensive or focused health histories from patients or their attendant designee.
  • Performs comprehensive or focused physical exams on patients.
  • Reviews health records comprehensively on patients being evaluated.
  • Records health history and physical exam in a legible and coherent fashion.
  • Makes medical decisions, orders diagnostic tests and forms treatment plans under the guidance of a physician and/or practice guidelines.
  • Provides therapeutics including, but not limited to, medications, under the guidance of a physician and/or practice guidelines.
  • Provides appropriate health education to patients and their families.
  • Makes referrals to external provider's networks as may be medically necessary to address the need for a higher level of care. Such referral may or may not be covered under the contract health service.
  • Maintains medical knowledge and proficiency.
  • Able to perform those skills and scope of work commonly identified with Physician Assistants licensed in the State of Oklahoma.
  • Must have professional of record documentation and levels care for billing compliancy.
  • Must be able to be recognized as a Provider within HMO, PPO, Managed Care Networks, Medicaid, and Medicare.
  • Attends mandatory Medical Staff and departmental meetings, unless otherwise assigned.
  • Observes and abides by the Bylaws and Medical Staff Rules/Regulations of the Kickapoo Tribal Health Center.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
