About The Position

The Family Engagement Specialist is responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships with youth and their parents, while coordinating opportunities that promote parent engagement and family well-being. This role will serve as a bridge between families and community resources by identifying needs, providing information and referrals, and facilitating access to services. This position also supports the implementation of family engagement activities, including parent education, family nights, and connection to support services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • At least one year of experience in social services or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • CPR certification required or the ability to obtain prior to start date.”

Nice To Haves

  • Some college hours in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field is preferred.
  • Two years of experience with contract and budget management preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish highly preferred based on business needs and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the Core values of Good Samaritan Community Services.
  • Coordinate and maintain strategic partnerships with community providers, schools and local organizations to support family engagement.
  • Facilitating access to available community services and resources as needed.
  • Participate in neighborhood and public activities that foster family and community health as required.
  • Establish rapport with families and empower them by building on their strengths.
  • Assess and identify family and community needs to inform engagement strategies and referrals.
  • Work closely with program staff to identify families to attend engagement opportunities.
  • Plan and facilitate monthly family nights/events to encourage parent and family engagement.
  • Facilitate parent engagement to include parent education workshops, to promote awareness of family opportunities.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to social, physical, and emotional needs of program participants.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of services, attendance, and family engagement activities in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate and lead Raising Highly Capable Kids, a 13-week parent curriculum that equips parents with tools and strategies to support their child’s growth, resilience, and overall well-being.
  • Report participant progress and/or significant incidents involving participants to Program Manager.
  • Assist in evaluating and recommending program goals and objectives.
  • Promote community awareness of programs through participation in outreach and recruitment efforts.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned based on agency needs.
