The Home Based Child Care Early Learning Specialist is responsible for an assigned caseload of 6-8 childcare providers. Delivering in person services twice weekly, the Early Learning Specialist's role is to deliver educational books and toys and model behaviors that empower providers to promote the development of the verbal, cognitive, and social-emotional skills that are critical for children’s school readiness and long-term school success.

Requirements

Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
Up to 2 years of experience working with young children and/or families
An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
Knowledge of child development and familiarity with community resources.
Valid NYS Driver’s License
registered and insured vehicle
NYS Child Abuse Registry Clearance.
Ability to share language, life experiences, culture, and community with the families.
Basic computer skills and specialized training or coursework related to the position.

Responsibilities

travel to homes throughout Onondaga County for the visits
Participate in weekly staff meetings, as well as individual supervision meetings and professional development opportunities as they are offered.
Assists site coordinator with recruitment of families
Attend networking/community events.
complete developmental screenings – record data and refer to community resources based on needs.
collect data completely with attention to detail and punctuality in their reporting as required by the ParentChild+ Program and Catholic Charities of Onondaga County.
